Many of our truckie mates enjoy the traditional meat pie with tomato sauce when they find a good bakery on their travels.

Nothing like a tasty meat pie smothered with sauce, which is an Aussie tradition.

The Waikerie Bakery in South Australia is one that has been mentioned to Spy by drivers I yarn to at random.

Located along Peake Terrace in the country town of Waikerie, it serves up a variety of meat pies and has parking nearby for trucks.

It has been there for 110 years – and, in addition to many different flavoured pies, Waikerie Bakery serves crusty artisanal breads and flaky pastries, cakes and cookies.
